Tag Browser: assign often / recently used tags faster?

I use a hierarchical structure inside the tag browser's "Series" and "Tags".

When assigning tags/series to newly added items i often have to open the branches of the hierarchy one by one to get to the tag/series i want to assign, each time the same thing over and over again.

Or i have to scroll through the entries of the corresponding columns "tags" or "series" to find the right tag/series.

Some of the tags/series from the structure i assign pretty often, sometimes several times a day.

Is there a way to speed up the process of assigning such often used tags/series collecting them in some way so that they are accessible at once?

Create a few dummy records with your common metadata. Then use Edit metadata->merge->merge keeoing others to copy over the metadata from them into the new book.
