T68 and Calibre Companion

Dear all,

I own a T68 from http://ereader-store.de with the latest software runnung on it, (build number 2017-01-15_etc). I use Calibre Companion to transfer/sync ebooks from my PC.

What I find very annoying is that In the library I see the log files generated by Calibre Compaion listed. And even when I delete them they seem to reappear faster than expected.

Does anyone know how I can configure filters for excluding these calibre debug and log files from being indexed/listed? Since these files are .txt files a potential extension exclusion might also work. But where to configure this kind of filters on the T68 with the above mentioned software, I don't know.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Jan

You'd be a lot better off asking this question in the Calibre Companion forum. Would you like me to move it there?

The CC log files are stored in an app-private folder that the T68 should ignore. Clearly it doesn't.

Another user had a similar problem on a C67ML. That discussion didn't go well. He ended up writing a 1-star review on Google Play in effect accusing me of fraud and threatening to "report" me somewhere for selling an app that was "not fit for purpose" and violating some consumer protection law.

That said, the advice given to him is still correct -- tell the device either to ignore folders or look only in specific folders, whichever option it supports. The docs for his device say that there is an option to scan only the "Books" folder. If you have that option then set it, and tell CC to put books there. The problem should be solved.

I avoid this problem (actually never saw this problem) on my Onyx Afterglow2 and Energi Systems Pro (a Boyue T62 clone) by not using the built-in book manager. I installed Nova as the desktop, use CC as the library manager, and use Moon+ as the reader app. CC can see the built-in FBReader app but I don't like it so don't use it.

Thank you for the advice Chaley! Merci beaucoup!

I will dig deeper because so far I could not find that option on the T68, but I'm sure I am overlooking something here.

No accusing nor threatening from my side, just appreciating all offers for help.

Kind regards,

Jan

Dear Charles,

I think I found it (after consulting the Manual):

Under
Settings -> Systems -> User Setting

I ticked the ' Only scan "Books" folder on internal storage '

I rebuild the Library and the CC log files no longer appear.

Once more I learned to appreciate the manual.

Thanks for your help again!

You are welcome. I am glad you got it sorted. I am particularly glad that the documented "Scan only Books" option worked.
