Kobo Glo - Problem with screen pixels
Hello everyone, my Kobo Glo has a problem with screen: every time it goes on standby it shows me the cover of the book, but the pixels are "too white", they aren't totally black and clear to read.
Same thing happens when i enter in the book, until the page is refreshed the characters are unreadable. Also when i put the kobo under charge (or when i connect it to the PC) the [....] freeze and i have to perform a soft reset. Also its power button sometimes doesnt' work well. I enclose a couple of pictures for clarity, one is the stand by mode and the other is when the kobo is connected to my pc. http://imgur.com/a/LIsG1 Version is 4.3.8945. Thank you alle and sorry for my poor english Last edited by issybird; 03-11-2017 at 01:01 PM. Reason: Foul language deleted. |

Are you sure the book have a cover? Did you try other books in sleep mode?
Try, setting > sleep and power > show current read > on. |

If you search the forum for faded screen there have been a few other cases, sometimes it seems to happen if the device has been left unused for a very long time, other times perhaps due to running Android or night mode or other software that drives the screen too hard. Perhaps high temperatures contribute. For whatever reason, the screen is reaching the end of its life earlier than normal.

You can try to revert firmware, just to see if that changes anything. You can also try to replace the battery or see if anythings different while a charger is connected to the device. My iriver Story HD sometimes failed to refresh properly when its battery went flat. OS was still running but screen didn't get enough voltage or whatever. But yea, chances are it's something went bad with the screen itself.
