EPUB>PDF main font defaults to italics

[lo-fi]

I've encountered a very frustrating problem with Calibre. Seemingly at random, the EPUB>PDF conversion defaults the text to italics. In other words, the main body of the text (99.9% of the book) becomes italicized.

I cannot figure out WHAT the problem is. I tried with multiple books now, and tried messing around with settings. What's most annoying, is that it occurs randomly!

So, if I convert a book with EXACTLY the same settings 5 times in a row. FOUR times I will get the undesired italics, and ONCE (if I'm lucky) the text will come out ok (no italics). So...about 20% of the time it works just fine. Magic.

This is driving me crazy
Did anyone else experience this problem, or knows how to solve it? Could the issue be the San Francisco Text font family?

Additional Info
Sometimes, as you can see on the picture below, the "regular" font disappears from the top position. However, even when the regular font is present (as in the pictures above) the PDF will still output in italics. Again, this all occurs rather randomly. If I turn off Calibre, the regular font will be back (as in the picture above)

It's almost certainly the font family. Try it witht he default font family LIberation Sans first to confirm.

Yes, I did not encounter this particular problem with a different font (yet).

However, do you have any idea how I can solve this problem (continue using the font). Or what causes the 'randomness' - I can eventually convert a book correctly using the SF font. It just takes 5+ tries.

Hard to say, I'll need to be able to reproduce the issue, for which I'll need the source epub and the font files. Open a bug report and attach them there.
