Unable to setup, version is newer than desktop app
I had a Kobo Touch for 5 years, all is ok with it, just got an Aura One, tried to connect to the Kobo Desktop app to setup and I got this message:

I was able to connect and update the Aura One via Wi-Fi, but now my Touch is getting the same error message when I connect to the PC via USB. I re-installed the Kobo Desktop app, and I am getting the same error message with the Touch.

You must have an old version of the application. It should check for an update when you start it. Have you done something to block that?

if you want to manually update it, the download is at https://www.kobo.com/desktop.

I am running version 4.2.6122, which I just downloaded from that same URL.

I just did a factory reset on the Touch and re-set it up through the Desktop app and now all is fine. But I don't think I will connect the Aura One to the Desktop ever again as that was what fucked things up.

I don't even have Kobo Desktop installed. I use Calibre.

Which is great if you want to manage sideloaded books. But, if you want to manage the device or purchased books without using WiFi, you need the Kobo desktop application. It has it's uses.

Actually I am using both, I was using the Desktop app to update the Touch firmware and the occasional book I purchased. If the the Desktop app continues to give me trouble with the Aura One, I will only update the firmware via Wi-Fi.

I am still having connection issues with both Kobo Desktop App and Calibre when connecting the Touch or the Aura One. The Aura One takes several attempts before Calibre recognizes it. The Touch used to be immediately recognized. All used to run so smoothly, I feel like I fucked things up by adding the Aura One..
