If the Earl Only Knew by Amanda Forester (Fantastic Fiction) is the 1st novel in her The Daring Marriages series of f/m historical Regency romance apparently featuring unconventionally adventurous heroines taking a chance on love, this one starring a scandalously spirited orphaned Lady who'd been sailing the high seas alongside her twin brother to restore their family's fortune, apparently via pirate chasing, having accomplished her goal and now trying to settle down into a Society where she no longer fits, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Sourcebooks' Casablanca imprint.

This is apparently being made free to promote the recently released 2nd in series, Earl Interrupted, out just yesterday, and the customer reviews mention that there's a medium mystery element with one of the major plot threads having to do with uncovering the culprit behind some break-ins. YMMV.
