Sync content server to laptop for travel

Hi all

I did search around and found similar questions, but nothing that seemed to apply.

Up until a recent change by my isp, I was running a port forwarded content server that ran permanently. My isp just went full ipv6 with ipv4 as a tunnel and I can no longer port forward. Meaning, until my mobile provider switch to ipv6, I am a little screwed.

I would like to duplicate the library / content server over to my laptop before I go away. As this happens regularly and randomly, the idea is to run a 2nd content server on the laptop that gets all of its library, books etc mirrored from the current, master, on my server.

Obviously, if it could sync both ways, that would be amazing, but I would be happy enough with one way.

Is this possible?

Many thanks
Dave

Just use any file sync tool such as rsync over ssh.

I was hoping to have a fire and forget solution... I always forget something when I am panic packing to travel short notice, so a solution that works when calibre is running would be perfect

There is no solution that can sync a library while calibre is running -- that way you would get data loss if both calibre and the sync tool make incompatible changes to the library at the same time.

Note that assuming you can ssh into your home computer, you can always port forward over an ssh tunnel -- I like to use autossh for this.
