That could be so many things
Without a picture of the 'wrong look', it is even hard to begin.
1) Who created this book?
2) Is it in the original (as sold) format? (or does the original format look OK and your conversion has gone south)

I hand edit the AZW3 code (stylesheet) to set my favorite look for the desired paragraph class
