Tagging Hard Copies

I have been using Calibre to catalogue some of the books in my library. I can add my own tags, ratings, etc. I could also create a list of books I'm considering trading.

Libraries and thrift stores often using colored stickers during sales.

I was thinking of using similar stickers for books I've catalogued, and bought some, but how can I tell if these stickers will muck up the covers?

You'd be looking to see if the package says if they're "acid-free" and/or good for photos/archival. They're going to be easier to peel off compared to other tapes too, even after you've pressed firmly on them.

Then I would suggest you find some that do. If it doesn't say, it will probably cause you hassle at some point in the future. Or cause problems for whoever you sell/give the book to down the road.

Look to scrapbooking sections of Joanns, Michaels or other hobby places. That stuff is all acid free.
