A question regarding Kobo ebook purchase

Hi

I have 8 dollar store credit in Kobo account. Today when I tried to purchase an ebook(around 10 dollar), I also entered my KOBO giftcard since store credit is not enough to cover the purchase. To my surprise. in the "complete purchase" page, it shows I didn't apply store credit to purchase(store credit and remain store credit are the same) and they would apply 10 dollar to my kobo giftcard. I thought it should first go to store credit and rest goes to giftcard? If not, how could I apply store credit to the purchase.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

When you make a purchase with a gift card, any remaining balance on the card gets transfered to your account as store credit, so it would make no difference if the existing store credit was applied first.

(That is how it has always worked for me in the past, though I haven't used a gift card recently.)

I've only ever used Kobo gift cards (plastic card from a bookshop, as well as egift 'cards' sent via email), third-party cards might be different.

When you use a Chapters/Indigo gift card on the Kobo site, they will only transfer the amount of your purchase since you might want to spend part of it elsewhere. OTOH, a Kobo gift card can only be used at the Kobo online store so transferring the entire balance to store credit makes sense.

I prefer the Kobo gift cards for the Kobo store since it's annoying re-entering the Chapters/Indigo card info each time I make a purchase and I have somewhat religious objections to caching that information.
