for Windows 10 phone

Hi, I just got my Lumia 950. To my horror, I've discovered that I'm unable to use Calibre. If you can rectify this, please do.
Unfortunately, I can't code to save my life.

Please, if this is something you can do; you could make one person VERY happy.

Almost forgot to add something

Hi, also if possible please enable the app to be able to connect to the server; just as the Android app can.

Thanks in advance
Katt
PS For what it's worth, I don't know why there's a video playing beneath my message

Hi crimsonMenace. Just to be clear, are you talking about Calibre Companion, which is an Android and iOS app, or calibre itself, which runs on Windows/Mac/Linux? Either way, I think it's unlikely that either will run on a phone.

While it's true that Microsoft has done some work to make Windows 10 programs run across all devices running Windows 10, that requires the program to be made with their 'universal Windows platform' (UWP) tools. In turn, UWP programs aren't compatible with older versions of Windows, much less Mac and Linux. I'm not involved with Calibre, but I can't see them rewriting the whole thing to work with the UWP.

And for mobile apps, unfortunately the situation is even worse; the percentage of people using Windows phones is tiny, less than 1% if I remember right. Considering that the app would take months of full time work to bring to Windows phones, it just wouldn't make sense.

Calibre runs on any Intel-based full Windows 10 device such as the Surface Pro. It does not run on an ARM device or on a "mobile" version of windows.

I started to look at this last year when Microsoft was pushing their Android emulator for Windows phone. I stopped looking at it when Microsoft killed the project. And as Steve said, it makes no sense at all to port CC to native Windows 10 Mobile. We would never sell enough to pay for the development costs.

It might also worth noting that the Raspberry PI ARM calibre package is not maintained by Kovid. That thread says that the calibre version is 2.5, which is more than 2 years old.
