![]() ![]() Hello For the past few updates,I've been having a slight issue. I tend to shut down calibre each night since I run it on a laptop, So right before I shut it down, I set up the main interface window with how I want it to look when next I restart the program (I.E. Tag Browser is off, I have my books sorted by input date so the last book entered is at the top of the list). When I restart/reopen Calibre the next time, The tag browser is back on even though I turned it off and most time another column is the sort column instead of the date. (as of writing this, the program has decided to leave the date column alone and work again, but the tag browser is still opening when it was closed at shut off). Is there a preference file that I can delete and have the program re-initialize or something so that Calibre will stay the way I leave it when shutting it down? Even after every update it still does this. I've already tried doing a clean install to see if maybe that would fix it but the tag browser still keeps turning itself on at startup. It almost happened with the Cover browser as well but since I could set that as a separate window, it doesn't come on at startup anymore. Please help, I know it's more of a disgusting issue than an emergency, but I just want to understand what made the interface change to where when I turn something off or have it in a specific sort operation, it won't stay after a restart? At the moment I'm at Version 2.74 with Yosemite Mac OS. Thank you for reading, and making a wonderful program, I love being able to quickly add books to my android reader and quickly find the books I already own. ![]() |

If your last used settings are not persisting it is usually caused by permissions problems ont he calibre config directory, which you can open via Preferences->Miscellaneous. You can always rename or delete that directory to reset all settings back to defaults.

@Vallora - the calibre configuration can also be relocated by the use of the CALIBRE_CONFIG_DIRECTORY Environment variable.
To have calibre start in a predefined state I do the following:
