Connect several CC devices at the same time?

Is it in some way possible to connect several devices to calibre at the same time?

If you mean simultaneously over the wireless device, then no. Calibre can handle only one device (of any kind) at a time.

There is no problem with connecting multiple devices serially. CC+calibre ensure that the state of each device is remembered. There is also no problem with connecting multiple devices simultaneously via the content server or cloud connections.

Thanks! But unfortunately content server does not give the sync option initiated from devices.

In our house several persons use different devices in different rooms syncing by WiFi from 1 calibre PC. When 1 of the devices stays connected nobody else can sync anymore until the first one gests disconnected. This is annoying.

Any hint as a solution for that?

There is an "auto-disconnect" option in the wireless device driver configuration that tries to disconnect the device after 30 minutes of no activity. Unfortunately I am not totally convinced that it works. You can get to the configuration screen by connecting, clicking the down arrow next to "Device" and choosing "Configure this device".

If all you are usually interested in doing is metadata updating then you could set up the devices to auto-connect at different times during the day. The auto-connect will do the metadata update, transfer news, trigger the reading list plugin for whatever it might want to do, then auto-disconnect. This setup means that people would connect only if they want books, in which case they should be sitting in front of the calibre PC and *should* remember to disconnect.

Beyond these, perhaps asking the others to disconnect when done?

Device: kobo forma, Kobo Libra, Huawei media Tab, fire HD10, PW3 HDX8.9,
a multi-directional sync between n concurrent devices, where n>2 is not a trivial thing to design.
try writing the synchronisation rules for that before requesting the feature
