No Detail In Go To Menu on devices
I have a technical book which requires access to some 150 items. I have TOC.xhtml and nav.xhtml which both show the required detail. For example:
Rec. Menu Page 1 Brightness Contrast etc. (These are from the top H1, H2, H3 H3 respectively in mark up. On the devices, I finish up with a table of contents at the front of the book which shows all levels as expected. But the Go To section of the book shows Rec. Menu Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 omitting the H3 levels. I note that not all devices have the useful NCX view button but when they do the full table of contents appears, as at the front of the book. The Table of Contents button next to NCX appears non-functional and greyed out on devices on which it appears. Am I misunderstanding something? |

Sigil has no influence on how devices/apps use a valid ncx/nav, or html-toc portions of EPUBS. EPUB specification doesn't contain or recognize any configuration for a "Go to" menu on devices.

@Lemmy:
I'm assuming that you're working on an epub3 book and that the problem occurs with Kindles or Kindle apps. If that's the case, make sure that you've assigned the proper semantics via Add Semantics...: Bodymatter (Text in epub2 books) => SRL (Start Reading Location) TOC => HTML Table of Contents (not the NAV) Make sure that you have a reference type="toc" guide item in the .opf file and an epub:type="toc" landmarks item in the nav file. |

Thanks for the helpful replies. Yes, you're correct about epub 3 and Kindle. I hadn't set the semantics and now the book works properly.
I only seriously started with Sigil a couple of weeks ago but I must say I'm finding it very easy to learn and use. I really appreciate your help - thank you! |
