I've just started reading again tonight and this has happened - definite blotching and poor light quality..

Thats not normal is it? I've just done a factory reset and I'm still getting definite blotching

Right weird but it's now behaving. So that was a weird half hour. Going to keep a close eye on it and see whether it's hardware or software..

At full natural light that shouldn't be normal, but it is common. The normal light it very even on the KA1, but they still need to work on the natural light evened out.

It seems to have evened out - it was if the software was utterly confused. At full natural light it went green, and the bright corner was far brighter than the photos could show. But then, just as I was getting the receipt and considering returning it it evened out and I cant get it to reproduce the issue

I'd just been in the bath and it had got wet so I wondered if it was incomplete waterproofing but another dunk and the issue hasnt returned

Maybe the heat? If fit was dunked in hot water, the heat might have affected it.

Good point! Perhaps a joint or two expanded a little

Going to use it today plugged in with light on full, comfort light on - to see if the issue returns or if it was a one off ;-)

Joints shouldn't matter since it is internally coated rather than relying on the case to keep water out. However heat could cause funky things to happen. People have seen that with various e-readers in direct sun and high temps.
