Voyage more than 1 version?
I've been thinking about replacing my K3 and see the refurb Voyage looks like a great deal. Has there only been one version of the Voyage?
Will this be a great step up from the K3, I know the light will be great for night reading. In looking for a case I see cases my year of Voyage...so have there been different physical sizes. I realize screen is 6" and that has not changed. The refurbs looks to have a physical button on each side do the latest versions also have the buttons? Thanks Last edited by Breathinlady; 11-14-2016 at 12:39 PM. |

There's only been one version of the Voyage.
No eInk device has a backlight, by the way, for the simple reason that eInk screens are opaque. Devices such as the Voyage have a frontlight. |

Here's a link to the case I use for my Voyage:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's a lot cheaper than the Amazon case and a LOT lighter and mine is well over a year old and still like new. It's also pretty nice looking. Barry |

When I bought my Voyage I bought this case with it from Amazon. I had intended to buy it the week before but something distracted me. At that time I bought a cheap case for it on Ebay. When I bought the Voyage I forgot about that and ended up with 2 cases. Both fit nicely but the black one from Ebay isn't as good a fit as the Swees. Barry |

Ok, so I am new to the Kindle Voyage reader. My refurb came yesterday and it looks pretty nice. I see that it does not have the latest updates...will it update itself, or do I need to download it myself?

It'll update itself sooner or later if you leave WiFi turned on, but it may take a few days. You can download the latest firmware manually if you prefer to do so.

That case looks nice. I had the Omoton style case which does not last more than a few months. I recently purchase this https://www.amazon.com/Elsse-Premium.../dp/B00NUWZ1QI. It is nice but heavy and you aren't taking your kindle in and out easily. It does protect well and looks like it will last. How light is the case you got? The Swees case is very light. The one you linked to wraps around the Kindle so it uses a lot more material. I prefer the cases that clamp onto the back with just the cover on front, such as the Swees case. There are others made that way as well. Swees isn't the only one. It's just the one I picked.

This was the same style of case I had for the Kindle Keyboard. I loved it for that and it lasted and expect this one to last as well. The problem I'm finding with the lighter cases is the magnet area breaking. I read some reviews on the Swees and some have had this issue. I also had an issue with the edge peeling but it looks like the Swees cover is made differently in that regard. |

I currently have 3 Paperwhites and a Voyage, all of which have that type of case. Two of them are made by Swees and the others are made by other companies. I also have 3 Kobos and a Nook Glowlight Plus with that type of case. In the past I've had other Kindles also with that kind of case.
A number of my neighbors in the retirement home where I live have them as well. I've never seen any with any problems. When someone has a Kindle problem around here they bring it to me so I get to see them all from time to time and I'd see the problems if they were there. That's not to say some won't go bad. Anything can go bad. But mine so far have been just fine. By the way I also use the same kind of case on tablets when I use a case on them. I've been doing that for years. For the most part my tablets are used without cases but I do have a case for each in case it's needed and they all get used sometimes. None have ever had problems yet. I think these things are pretty sturdy. Of course now that I've said that yours will probably break. ![]() Barry |
