What is an MK 6 device?

I've attempted to search for this but the search function yields zero results.

I'm looking at custom patches/firmware for a Kobo Aura Original however I am seeing references to MK 4-6. Been out of the game for awhile and I don't recognize what a MK 4, MK 5 or MK 6 device is. Anyone with a quick explanation?

I'd add the Aura 2nd edition to the Mark 6 hardware.

Ah, right you are. Can't believe I forgot that one. It kind of confuses me though that the Aura HD is Mark 4 while the regular Aura is Mark 5. Is that how that's supposed to be? I just copy/pasted that list from a previous firmware thread.

That's the way I've always seen it listed.

The marks are hardware generations. These devices will have more in common at the hardware level.

The Aura HD was released before the Aura. Using different hardware revisions for them isn't surprising.

does it means that the kobo h20 is superior than the Aura HD? Maybe more fast or more efficient in power consumption?

The Aura H2O is largely identical to the Aura HD. The H2O is minisculely smaller (10 pixels in one dimension I believe) and water/dust proof. While the individual components may be different, the overall product is pretty much the same.

The main difference is the eInk screen. The HD has a Pearl screen while the H20 has a Carta eInk screen.
