I've set Calibre with this template, {authors} - {series_index:0>2s} {title} so that when I 'Save to Disk' (save to a hard drive) it renames the file as 'Author - 03 Title. epub', and that works great!
I often email books to a hotmail address and I want them renamed in the same way, but can't make it work. Under, 'Preferences / Sending Books to Devices' I've set up the same template. But it's not working. Under, 'Preferences / Metadata Plugboards' I set up a plugboard as, Format = epub, Device = email, Template = {authors} - {series_index:0>2s} {title}, Destination Field = title, but that's not helping either. Would someone please point out the error of my ways? ![]() |

Plugboard does not change the FILENAME
It modifies the metadata inside. in your case {title} |

@Stargehzer - I have a number of mailTo folders for various mail address groups. An Outlook add-on monitors the mailTo folders, sends the files to the associated address group and moves the files to sentTo folders (so they don't get sent again). This provides a record of what was sent to whom and when it was sent. The scheme pre-dates my usage of calibre by about 15 years, and 'things' includes files which are not in a calibre library.
In calibre I use Save to Disk to save books into the mailTo folders, with different templates for each of my libraries. Unfortunately the Outlook add-on is defunct and it doesn't work on post 2007 versions of Outlook. And... EOL for OL 2007 is 2017-10-10, so I need to devise another scheme toot sweet - thanks for the reminder. BR |

IIRC there is nothing that controls filenames while sending by email.
