Knockoff Kindles... are they real?

Hi,

Just out of curiosity... I was on Aliexpress looking for covers for my friend's Kindles... And I found covers, but I also found people selling "good condition stock goods", etc. of older generation Kindles (4th generation, 3rd with keyboard) for approx 70-80 bucks CAD. They can't be registered and come loaded with something called Duokan.

I don't need a Kindle since I own a Kobo, but I was wondering.. are these knockoffs? I was always under the impression that people never made Kindle knockoffs (but I shouldn't have been so naive..) so I was just surprised. I'm thinking they're refurbished but who knows.

Any input appreciated.

(I will not link because I'm not sure if they're counterfeit and it may be against forum rules).

Well anyone buying a K3 from them is dumb.... K3 on Amazon is $30!!!

They are not knockoffs Chances are they are blacklisted Kindles that have been jailbroken and had Duokan installed. I would not buy these.

I doubt they are even blacklisted. They're probably just running a version of Duokan that precludes running the original firmware.

Kindles running Duokan have been sold for years in China for the local market.
