Calibre Ebook /Foxit Reader.

I am new to this site and am not computer literate. My query is this. I have purchased an Ebook of guitar music which is in notation and tablature. I have downloaded the ebook using Calibre and manage to convert to pdf format. So far so good. However, their is an audio track embedded under each musical example but is greyed out,so when I place the pointer on the start button nothing happens. Can someone please explain what it is I am not doing as the author insists it should play. I understand that Foxit is a reader but when I go to theTools section nothing happens.Do I need some other software to obtain the audio facility. Help !

@jazzuki - why did you convert it to PDF? In what format was it published? IMO conversion of any file format (ebook, audio, video, image, word processing, etc etc) is best avoided.

Have you tried any other PDF readers, like Adobe ('inventor's' of PDF) Acrobat, or PDF xChange.

BetterRed. It is easier to read the music of paper on a music stand than glaring at a Laptop screen. Tried Adobe, same result. Thanks for the reply.

I doubt that any conversion to PDF will preserve the ability to play an embedded audio track.

So, you want to print the music -

I ask again what format/file type did you download?

Can you listen to the audio from that file - if so why not use it, whilst you read the printout you made of the PDF file. I sometimes read and correct TV and radio transcripts on paper (TXT file printouts), whilst listening/viewing the MP3/4 on a PC/tablet.

And there may be better ways to get a printout - e.g direct from the file you downloaded, rather than via a conversion to PDF.

@jazzuki - did you pay for the PDF you downloaded or is it legitimately available free of charge? If you paid for it then you should take up the issue with the supplier, if the latter post the download link it and I'll take a look at it.

But if the book was not obtained legitimately then I can't help you, the Mobileread owners would ban both of us - and I take the position that the creators of published works (books, music, etc) ought to be compensated.

To play audio from Acrobat you would need to have installed an audio player like Windows Media Player or Quicktime. I have no idea what Foxit needs, but I imagine the same.

See ==>> Add audio, video, and interactive objects to PDFs in Adobe Acrobat

But... I can't figure out why you are posting your issue in the calibre forum - calibre is an e-book library management that integrates to portable devices like e-book readers, tablets and phones. Why didn't you post it in the PDF forum - I can move the thread there if you like.
