Move Books

I have my Calibre on my desktop and need to back it up on a flash drive. I have Calibre Portable installed on the flash drive, but can't find the Calibre libraries on my desk top version so that I can copy them to the flash drive. I'd rather just copy the library, but if that isn't possible, can I copy the whole Calibre file to my flash drive, and will that work? Thanks.

select any book in the desktop library: Tap 'O"
Backup 2 levels Book (title) >>Author>> Library
(the path usually shows at the top in Explorer )
This is the folder to copy

+1

Typing "O" is the same as the menu entry and toolbar icon "Open folder containing...". On a touch-only device (e.g. Windows tablet) you may find the toolbar access easier.

You'll know you are in the top level library folder when all it contains are a lot of sub-folders, one for each author name, and two files, one of which is "metadata.db".

Make note of the name of the folder you a viewing and then go up only more level to make selecting that folder easy. Copy the whole folder and all of its contents into your Calibre Portable folder tree, overwriting the existing library if the names should happen to match (as they will if your main library is using Calibre's default choice of folder name).
