Thumbs up Notepad for Aura H2O

I had a SONY PRS 950 and it has lost part of the screen - I keep weeping as it was after implementing alternative firmware (PRS +) the best ereader I have ever seen.
I got now a Kobo Aura H2O in the hope that its relatively open platform would allow alternative firmware as well. I see great progress here but still lack some features the Sony had that neither Coolreader nor Koreader has.

1. Word search within a book or document.
2. Annotations that can be exported as text or image.
3. Notepad

I have the Notepad app in the PB Chess bundle (paid for the licence to support development) but cannot import or save anything in or out to the Notepad. The button SAVE does respond but nothing happens then. Have contacted the developer but not received any response.

Is there anyone who can give some suggestions and/or confirm whether this function works on the Aura H2O (or on any Kobo) at all?

Or any notepad application that can be integrated into the Kobo Start Menu (KSM)?

Thanks to everyone helping to make ereaders a joy for the user and not only for company shareholders!

There is a notepad (notes) with my WebPortal mod but it uses the webbrowser.

You could just use an empty book and write annotations within it as notes.

I think there is an addon that can export annotations in Calibre.

The "new document" option in the Notepad of PBChess does not work, but if you already have a TXT file on the reader (even if blank), you can open it and it works well.

The SAVE button does not work with the "unnamed" but works fine on files with name.

I have used the Notepad for shopping lists, it works fine for that. I have no trouble saving or importing valid files. I also use Sergey's "File Manager" to refine file names that I transfer from calibre using the wireless content server.

KOReader has several search functions, including for within a document.

Luck;
Ken

Thank you. That does work. I have set up several txt. files for later use. They can actually be renamed in file manager mode.

I hope the developer will fix that bug.
There is a working word search in Koreader that works with all supported files - I did not look good enough.

Looks that only annotations are missed now!

Thank you. I have not looked good enough for the search function - it is there indeed!

The Notepad does however not work without bugs. No new files can be created but existing txt can be modified and saved. Will to do for now but hope a solution will emerge.
Again thanks!

There is also this Koreader Highlight Utility that I made, to convert the highlights in the '*.lua' history files of the books, to plain text....
