Free (Kindle) Coyote Breed by Alan David [Western Undercover Ranger vs Outlaws Novel]
Coyote Breed by Alan David, a pseudonym for the prolific multi-genre author Donald S. Rowland (ISFDB, Science Fiction Encyclopedia), is his standalone western historical adventure novel, starring a ranger out to get even with an outlaw gang who's already killed several of his colleagues, leaving him for dead, only he's trying to do it undercover in a place where everyone he runs into seems to recognize him, which, were this another genre, would probably lead to a case of Hilarity Ensues™, but instead just makes his planned revenge scheme all that much trickier, free courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint, who are e-printing it from its 1984 edition originally out from Robert Hale using the pseudonym Stuart McHugh.
Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and pretty much everywhere else that Amazon sells worldwide, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive-or-else program) And this has been the selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day. Because the story setup on this one sounds like it could be the makings of a hilarious comedy of errors, even though it probably isn't. ![]() ![]() Enjoy! Description Dead man walking… When Chet Boardman, Texas Ranger, arrives in Burnt Hill hot on the trail of the ruthless Coyote gang, he doesn’t expect to run into them so quickly. But they get the drop on him and leave him bleeding to death in the desert. But it takes more than that to finish off Chet Boardman. Now he’s not just after the gang, but revenge as well. Five rangers have already been killed by The Coyotes and Chet Boardman is going to have to keep his wits about him and his identity to himself, if he doesn't want to be the sixth. Of course, the first person he runs into finds his papers proving he’s a ranger. And then the beautiful singer down at the Saloon recognises him straight away. To make matters worse, there’s a leak down at the law office so once the Sheriff finds out the whole town will know. But Chet isn’t giving up easy and he’s determined to bring The Coyotes to justice even if he has to do it single-handed. Coyote Breed is a thrilling tale of intrigue, revenge and honour, perfect for fans of Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey. |
