Scrivener now updated to 2.8 [iOS version now available]

Scrivener now has a 2.8 update. Below is their announcement, which I copied just prior to updating to this newest version:

Scrivener 2.8 Change List

Added support for reading and working with Scrivener for iOS. (You must download this version of Scrivener for Mac if you plan to use our iOS version.)

Fixed bug whereby .svg files would not be output for MultiMarkdown -> HTML, only for other MultiMarkdown outputs.

Fixed bug whereby certain images could cause a hang when loading text (if the images were embedded in an \object inside the RTF).

Fixed bug whereby images at the top of a section could cause page breaks not to be inserted properly during Compile.

Worked around Apple bug exacerbated by El Capitan whereby certain fonts would cause the line spacing in comments and footnotes to change when edited, which meant that in some circumstances the last line of a comment wasn’t visible unless being edited.

Scrivener no longer tries to restore full screen mode on relaunching, to avoid a crashing issue that was introduced in an El Capitan update and is affecting some users.

Miscellaneous bug fixes.

You're welcome.

Have you bought the iOS version?

I have yet to do so.

Nope. All I have bought so far is the Windows version.

Do you have a high DPI monitor (2K, 3K, 4k) under Windows? Have you seen the "new" high DPI aware Screvener version?

In my laptop 3K and 4K exernal monitor the result is completely

You have a 2 cm pixel size.

Soooooo much botched job...

I'll have to look into this program again. I bought my current version two years ago when I wrote two short stories, but haven't used it since. Maybe I'll be able to upgrade for free or a small amount, just in case I feel the need to write down some more stories I've got in my head.

(I make up a lot of stuff, but I'm really lazy/have other priorities set, to be honest.)

It's on version 2.8 (Mac), so if you're somewhere on version 1, then there will be a small upgrade fee.

This is a great program, in my view.

The Windows version went from Version 1.9.5.0 to Version 1.9.6.0 as of Aug. 4th. Must have been some bugs in the previous update that they correct in the new one.

Yes, and the most important (IMHO) is a seriuos correction to the high DPI resolutions.

It's in the right way but not enough.

1950 version did raw scale the thing, getting pixelled things
1960 version removed the "pixel" scale but did "blur" scale, and if in a 3K monitor is shown more or less well, in my 4K "blurness" is significant.

1960 has another issues: the text size in "document notes" does not change doesn't matter what you put in configuration.

Edit to say: Win32 applications can work with high DPI screens because Visual Studio, Office, Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer and other applications works well without any kind of blur or font disaster. Then it is doable.

As a summary, Scrivener in Windows seems a very botched work. It works more or less as expected, but the attention to detail shines by its abscence.

The developers at Scrivener listen VERY carefully to owners of the program.

Perhaps you should write to them and let them know that you are having an issue and that you would like to see it addressed.

The windows version is behind in development compared to the Mac version I understand but that is to be expected as the program started out just being for Mac and the other versions (Win and Ios) haven't been in development as long. I'm not sure what rfog is referring to myself.

I know Scrivener for Windows is newer than OS X one, as I started using the OS X since before it was for Windows. I know too Linux version is abandoned and that caused some problems to a friend of mine because he was using it in Linux.

Are you the Windows Scrivener developer? If yes, please, take in consideration my list of bugs shown here. I'm available to test beta versions if you want.

The iOS version is great. I beta tested it and have also bought it. It's not meant to have all of the features of the main version. Now when I'm sitting in a waiting room I can make quick edits to my novel. Definitely worth the money.

Quality of OS X version is very good, and suppose the iOS too (I've purchased it but not used yet).

Windows one is a little bit buggy. Of course not to not be usable, but has, well, in gaming it is called glitches.

Nope. I'm just a fellow user of the program who bought a copy after they started producing the Windows version.
