Replacement screen for Kobo Glo HD N437
Hi there,
My Kobo Glo HD's screen cracked when I accidently leaned on it (everything else is still working, except for the e-ink display). Now I want to replace the e-ink display. Someone on some forum said it is quite easy to replace the screen. The problem is now: where do I find a replacement screen? On sites like aliexpress.com I find mainly replacement screens for other devices. Only one for the Kobo Glo HD and it costs 90 euros. Some company in my home country (the Netherlands) tells me that they can repair my Kobo for 53 bucks. Of course they won't tell me what kind of screen they will install. I see that those e-ink screens have a type number. Does anyone know the type number of the e-ink display of the Kobo Glo HD N437? That number would make my search a lot easier I suppose. Thanks for your help! Kind regards, Rudy |

Replacing the screen is actually hard... (harder than replacing any other part of the reader). At the same time the screen is also the most expensive part. That's why usually getting a new reader is cheaper than getting the screen fixed. (You have to pay the part, the time it takes someone to perform the replacement, the shipping costs, etc.)
A company repairing it for 50€ sounds too good to be true but if they have a good reputation I'd take them up on their offer (verify with them it's really the Glo HD and not the old Glo)... unless you find a device on Ebay with ripped-off USB port or something but working screen, or the store you bought at replaces it despite it being your fault, you won't get a cheaper repairs than that... The screens you find on aliexpress are usually for older generation devices. If you do order one of those, be very careful when handling it... the screens break extremely easily (especially when not in their protective reader casing/frame). |

These e-ink replacement screens are so expensive. Yes, it is cheaper than a replacement unit, but IMHO really cost-effective.
I think you should consider buying a new reader. |
