Calibre and Linux Mint 18.0

Anyone have Calibre running under the new version of Linux Mint (18.0)? I'm running the Cinnamon flavor of 17.3 and, just to be safe, am wondering if there's any incompatibility.

Just curious: why did an Admin move this thread to the Devices sub-forum? It's about Calibre on my computer's OS, not using the result of Calibre on a device.

The description of this sub-forum is (emphasis mine):
Quote:
Troubleshoot installation and connection issues specific to your device or OS, and learn how to make the most of calibre's device integration features

The base forum (Calibre) is for those things that do NOT fit in a sub forum.
Please take the time to review the descriptions and post in the most correct location.

If you should later decide you should have posted elsewhere, Contact a forum level Mod (or a Greenie), and ask that it be MOVED.
Do not start another thread, this leads to confusion , because some answers are now in the wrong place.

Yes.

So far I've done the "usual" things I do with Calibre under Mint 18.0, namely:
  • Read a book
  • Add a book to the library
  • Convert to other formats
  • Send to device
  • Run deDRM plugin
  • Run other plugins (Count Pages & Goodreads)

And everything seems to work as it did under 17.3. I say seems only because it's still relatively early days.

OK. No problem. I was just curious. But, now that jhowell pointed it out, I see the "OS" part of the Device sub-forum description (I glossed right over that when I read it earlier).

latepaul's reply gives me a warm fuzzy about the Calibre/Mint 18.0 combination. My biggest worry had been that there might have been some incompatibility in the installation phase. But, since he's already confirmed Calibre works for just about everything I use it for, that's been laid to rest.

Thanks.

It's a tad ambiguous - I think the sub forum is/was intended to be about connection issues, between caibre and devices, or between calibre and OS for Mail, Server etc. Which begs the questions - why wasn't it called Connectivity.

Just for a bit of closure: I did my clean install of Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon x64, re-installed Calibre, and have gone through my usual activities with it (very similar to latepaul's, above). No problems. I'm pretty sure I see a difference in how the main menu bar (with all its icons) works, though. When I connect or disconnect my Kindle, it's much slower re-painting the thing. Since everything from the kernel on up is new, though, I certainly can't point any fingers as to what might be causing it. But, I'm happy. Everything works.
