Replacement eReader

It appears that my Sony PRS-T1 has died.

Which Readers will work with Windows 10.? Also can I transfer books stored on my Sony to a replacement Reader so that they are all on the one Reader.?

I assume the books on your Sony are ePub's? Where you are in the world can make a difference on what's easily available to you, but the Kobo Touch 2, Kobo Glo HD and Kobo Aura H2O are all good widely available ePub readers (they do Mobi too, but not all that well).

Of course since you use Calibre (according to your other thread) converting those ePub's to AZW3 or Mobi is a snap so a Kindle could be an option as well.

ePub works great on Kobo's. They'd have to be converted with Calibre for a Kindle. PDF's will work on both, although PDF isn't generally an ideal format for such devices. LRF was a Sony only format and would need to be converted.

There have been reports of detection/USB issues in the anniversary beta version of Windows 10, but I know of no problems with the current regular release.

Any reader should work with Windows 10. All of my Sonys and Nooks do.

Well in that case it seems to confirm that my PRS-T1 has died on me which is a pity. Can't think of anything else to bring it back to life and get it to connect.

What's the issue? Is it just dead as in doesn't turn on or does it just not connect? If it just won't connect, do a device shutdown on it and then reboot.

It just won't connect. It was perfect in Win7 but trouble in Win10 which may be coincidence. Tried a reboot without success.

If it is still working on windows 7 then it is not totally dead. The problem could be some issues with windows 10.

I am using windows 10 almost a year (I am one of the early adapter...) and I have no problems with kindle and Kobo H2O devices.

I presume it is working stand-alone and you are able to read books on it. Did you try it on different computers with different cables?

This is good advice also trying a different USB port can sometimes make a difference.

It is not connecting to Calibre. I have tried different USB Ports.

It was working ok with Windows 7. I have now upgraded to Windows 10 and now have the problem of not connecting. I can read books on ok, Just can't add books that I download.

It would erase everything (all books, any ADE activation) on the device and reset it to how it was from the factory.

If it's connection okay to Windows itself (ie: you can see it in Explorer and copy files that way or it works okay with the Sony Reader Library software) then I'd think there is hope it can eventually be gotten working in Calibre as well.
