a persistent "epub.css" file?
Hi
I use frequently as a default display the "epub.css" file. I have changed some values and I would like to keep them, even after an OTA update. The "epub.css" file is in /data, like the dictionaries. But contrary to them; it is changed frequently. What would be the best advice to keep this file unchanged? |

You could try using the Vlasovsoftlauncher "File Manager" to "Clone" your edited "epub.css" and name it "myepub.css". You should find it on your list of .css in KOReader, now. A long press on it will let you set it as the default. "Auto" will probably still use the epub.css. Now the question will be if the OTA processing in your device will remove your new .css? There is no need for an update to do so, but it might have been written to do so.

Thanks Ken
I was not aware of such a possibility. But I wonder what's the use of changing all these lookalike .css files. Would it not be more simple to decide to keep, say, some "user.css" file unchanged during the update process? |

If you aren't using the OTA function and download the updates off the OTA server(s) using your PC, you can control the merging process and not change what you don't want changed. (At least for your Kobo, I am not sure if that would be the same for the Kindle)
If the OTA process uses a merge procedure that only replaces files of the same name and adds only new files, your "myepub.css" or "user.css), if you prefer, should be there after the OTA update, as well. Luck; Ken |

I use OTA update and come back to the old updating process would be -for me- a step backward.
For the time being (even after a restart) my brand new user.css file s not displayed among the "external styles". It was not created with Vlasov's cloning help though. Could you please upload here such a "cloned" .css file that I could add? |

I don't have a "epub.css" with your modifications, so any clone I make would be the same as the one in the downloaded update. You should be able to add any file with .css to the list, mine appeared on the second page of the list, right after txt.css.

It seems I misunderstood your explanation about the "cloning" process. Sorry for this.
