Add cover - EPUB to EPUB conversion

Hello,

I have an Epub that somehow is broken, or files are missing from it, and doesn't show his cover on iBooks .

The epub contain an META-INF folder with a container.xml file, an mimetype file and the OEBPS folder, containing lots of jpg and gif files and in the end, html files, css file, opf file, xpgt file and a ncx file .

When i open it the epub, in the first page it has the cover and because I don't know how to manage thinks to make it show it's cover on ibooks, I decided to use calibre and add the cover image, and convert it again to EPUB to actually show that cover .
The problem is that I don't like the fact that the result is not exactly as the original EPUB, for example blank pages that on original one are there, the new EPUB skip them.

How could I make that cover appear, OR
What settings to use in calibre conversion , actually to make the EPUB result be exactly like the original one , except the cover adding .

Thank you

Well, I don't know why blank pages are appearing. Maybe the internal code is badly-formed and chapter pagebreaks are getting inserted in the wrong locations.

Regardless, conversion is the wrong tool. Use the Polish Book tool to embed a cover into the EPUB. If Polish Book is not currently in your toolbar, you can add it from Preferences ==> Toolbar

Thank you for your support and suggestion .
My problem is that the blank page disappears and not that appears unusual blank pages .

I didn't know about this "Polish Book" , I did it this time useing Polish Book .

Still kind of a think that bothers me ... I know that at this time I am kind of picky and odd... but:

The original EPUB have the cover on the 1st page, and than the 2nd one is blank, and it looks normal and professional, as it should be .

After I use polish and check the options "update metadata in the book files" and "update the cover in the book files" guess what ?

The 2nd blank page is gone, no blank page, instead on the 2nd page it starts "Table of Contents" and bothers me , because it just looks stupid and not as the original book .
Why it doesn't keep the pages exactly like the original EPUB and how could I make it do, or insert a blank page where it should be ?

Thank you very much

You can always use the Editor to fine-tune the book however you like. It is trivial to add an extra pagebreak or insert a blank HTML file containing a non-breaking space (assuming you know basic HTML).
(I will note that according to my personal preferences, blank pages are a bug and should be fixed. But to each his own. )

...

Without being able to see the underlying markup of the book in question, I cannot be sure why that would happen. (Please do not upload it here to show me if the book is copyrighted, that would be illegal. @jackie_w's ScrambleEbook utility for troubleshooting ebooks was designed to fulfill that need.)
But I would guess the existing, broken coverpage has padding of some sort and possibly lines with a non-breaking space, which pad out the coverpage and overflow past what can appear on a single page.
When Polish Book replaced that page with its own coverpage template, the new coverpage did not have that artifact.

It was probably not deliberately done that way. But as I said above, if you for some reason prefer those aesthetics you can trivially fix it with the E-Book Editor.

Thank you for your support again!

I've done it, bruh

I've replaced the polished one's xhtml code with the original one's code, modifying only the src="..." and problem solved .

Now I have my stupid blank page back.
