Search ignoring tags
One of my main reasons for editing books in the Calibre editor is to fix spelling mistakes or formatting errors that I find while reading them, so I rely on text searches to locate the point in the text at which the issue is occurring. This is often difficult to do because the text is interspersed with tags which means that no match is found.
I'd like to be able to search for: Code:
This is a text string Code:
This is a <span class="Italic">text</span> string Would this be a feasible future development for the editor, or is it something that it can do now and I've overlooked it? Thanks! |

You can do that, albeit a file at a time, in the preview panel. ANd since its position is synced with the code editor, you can more or less make it work.

You could search in the E-Book Viewer, and compare it to the Editor.

Would be nice to be able to do a search across all files, as the main editor window can, if this could perhaps be added to your (doubtless lengthy) wish list? It could perhaps be added as a option to the "Mode" dropdown below the search box? |

Use the ToC, or search on single identifying words from the context.

It's actually not a particularly hard feature to implement, but I dont think it belongs in the search panel as it would only be possible to do searches, not replaces -- replacing across tags is a easy way to screw up your HTML.
Probably as a dedicated tool. However, I do have rather a lot on my plate at the moment, so no promises. |

With the difference that if you need more context to find errors in the first place, then the E-Book Viewer can help you track it down and pinpoint a better single-word context for finding a known mistake in a known section via the Editor.

I do that by highlighting the errors in the book on my Kindle as I'm reading it. Then, when I've finished the book, I go through the list of highlights, and look for an uncommon word close by the highlighted passage to search for in the editor to locate the passage. It would simply be a little more convenient to be able to directly search for the highlighted passage. Merely an "it would be nice..." thing; not high priority.
