Lightbulb Free (Kindle DRM-free) Extraordinary Hearts [LGBT History & Cultural Contribs Essays]

Extraordinary Hearts: Reclaiming Gay Sensibility's Central Role in the Progress of Civilization by long-time activist, journalist, and newspaper editor Nicholas F. Benton (Wikipedia) is a collection of his newspaper column essays about pioneering historical gay figures and their cultural contributions, as well as the history of the LGBT community itself, free courtesy of LGBT specialty publisher Lethe Press.

These were originally published under the title "Nick Benton's Gay Science" in the Metro Weekly, which is a reference to the philosopher Nietzsche, rather than being about scientific figures, and covers a variety of diverse topics including philosopher Michel Foucault, assorted works by Tennessee Williams, Thomas Mann and ancient Greek perceptions of love, various personages of the American Revolution, and more. This has favourable praise in the editorial reviews section from various sources.

Description
Extraordinary Hearts is a compilation of 100 short essays published on consecutive weeks in the Metro Weekly gay community magazine of Washington, D.C. between October 2010 and September 2012, a critical period in shaping the national dialogue on LGBT rights. It answers Tony Kushner's call for a "vigorous explorations of how a genuine morality can be introduced into our newly minted freedom."

Author Nicholas Benton says, "My perspective is honed from my younger days as a seminary-graduated pioneering gay activist and philosopher-theologian in the earliest Stonewall era of the modern movement."
