"Insert Image" grayed out -- help?
So this is my first time trying Sigil, and it's fabulous so far. But for some reason "Insert Image" is grayed out for me. I've searched everywhere I can think of for an answer and can't find one -- I feel like it's probably something easy or obvious and I'm just missing it? (I searched this forum too before posting; apologies if I missed something.)
The file is an EPUB that was converted in Calibre from an HTML file. (And I love working in HTML and am usually viewing in split mode, so HTML-assuming answers are just fine.) Thanks in advance; it feels like a weirdly simple problem to be banging my head against... |

Have you add an image file to the ebook? See File->Add Existing... to add the file to the epub first. Once an image file exists, you should be able to insert links to that image.

Insert really is "Place a Image that is part of the book"
To become part of the book, you must add (existing) the image Then you can use it 1 or more times within the book HTML files |

Oh, thank you so, so much, folks! I thought I'd clicked on every possible menu option -- and I had -- but it turns out I had downloaded the wrong version of Sigil (I had a way, way out-of-date version). I never would have realized it without knowing there was a menu item that didn't exist for me! (Although I should have realized when all my attempts to get to the help menu or manual were dead links...)
Anyway, I got the correct latest version, found the menu item for adding an image as you said, and have inserted my image. Thanks loads! |

Toward the bottom of your "Book Browser" (the narrow window on the left of your screen) there's a folder called IMAGES. I right-click on that and choose the option ADD EXISTING FILES, which opens up a browser for you to locate the image you want.
There is no current manual, so your attempts to reach it will always be vain. The existing version (0.7.2, I believe it is) is excellent. |

. I discovered that you can add a GROUP of images (or others) that exist in the selected folder, with a single operation
