I need to stop the "on device" folder
Having used Calibre for a while now, I was surprised to see a blue folder with a green downpointing arrow show up upon starting Calibre indicating the device folder. At first I was really surprised because I had only ever seen the on device folder only show as the device icon when it was plugged in.
I am thinking this has to do with my finally configuring my devices (3 Kindles) to Calibre, because now the folder is there upon startup every time. The only problem I have now is that I cannot make it go away. Every time I switch libraries it stops whatever I want to do to "get list of books on device". If I had only a few books it wouldn't be more than a minor annoyance, but as of now, it has been getting books for over 12 minutes and is only 65% done. I have deleted the device drive info in the folder, I have restarted Calibre, I have restarted my computer, but it won't go away. This folder has made Calibre unusable if I have to wait 20 minutes every time I switch libraries or load Calibre. PLEASE tell me how to get rid of it ![]() |

Eject it
On Device is a status column for a CONNECTED device If you set up a FOLDER device, you must use the Eject option on the Folder Device icon to stop it |

I am always ejecting it, but it keeps coming back and won't eject until it loads up. How did I end up with this in the first place, and how can I get rid of it?

I have really, really, screwed up.
I thought that this "device folder" was actually the books on my device, and since the darn thing wouldn't go away, I decided that I should delete those files, since when I delete files off of my device nothing happens to the library.....see where I am going with this? Yeah. All of them. Deleted. Folder still turns up and still adds new books. And I deleted some 3,000 books thinking that they were only on the device folder, and they were there because I put them there. What can I do? I still have that folder, which wants to auto populate with everything I am sending in, and a library full of jpgs and opf files taunting me about their missing book files. How can I get that damn folder to go away and stay away? |

I am "fixing" the missing book formats in that Library Maintenance. I have no worries that the books are gone forever, you know I have many, many back ups. I am more concerned about the metadata. I'm thinking this is a good time as ever to make a new catalog to back up the metadata. I seriously am not in the mood to do a merge of 3000 books to keep the metadata.

auto-connect to folder didn't mean to automatically start at the folder I chose, upon starting? That's what I thought, that whenever I opened Calibre I would be opening it up to the library chosen....
Ok, going back to fix that now. |

If you want it to open on a particular virtual library, that option is in Preferences ->Behavior.
