This quote stands out:
"On the current book-blogging boom:

They’re so professional, and I mean that as an insult. I didn’t want to become a professional. It’s like using the critical culture as a support to the industry rather than as an actual method of taking it apart."

I thought if one was in a business professional was a good thing.
She sounds like someone that didn't get what she wanted so she is taking her toys and going home.
Another of the I'm special because I am independent and don't you dare put me near anyone that doesn't do everything by themselves.

Yes, I followed her blog for a very little bit. Never got a decent book from there.

In light of noticing the bloggers name: let me just clarify that I never found a good book in terms of readability there. Please know that I meant decent as readable not what anyone else may have thought or inferred. I never found indecent books there either.

I guess there are some people who can afford to spend a lot of time on a hobby, but I don't see anything wrong with making money doing something you love. I suspect that if I ever started a blog reviewing books, then odds are the vast majority of the reviews would be favorable. Why in the world would I waste a lot of time on a book that I didn't like? If I didn't like a book, I wouldn't waste the time doing a review of it.

I got offered a free blog to do just that. Turned it down because I didn't want to wade through the crap.

Actually, I think she brings up some very valid points. Book-blogging today seems to be more about propping up ideas and causes (and the authors who share them) rather than offering much in the way of honest literary critique (professional or amateur). They're platforms used to exert influence on the industry instead of reporting on it.

I've stopped following any of them for the most part.

Maybe because it is easier and more fun to write about book you did not like?

I find most of them are just Amazon affiliates out to make a sale.
