Oasis narrow line spacing for non-amazon books

What format are you converting to and how are you transferring it to your Oasis?

I've found mobi results in narrow line spacing, but azw3 and mobi-both works fine.

Had to check on mine real quick. Mind you, things not from Amazon I convert in calibre, but then I use send-to-kindle to put them in my cloud and on device. So I can only use mobi for that as its the only format send to kindle can use.

The spacing is a bit tighter than on amazon bought books, but they look the same on my Oasis, Voyage. I don't have access to my PW1 anymore to compare as I gave it to a family member. My basic also looks the same as the Oasis, Voyage. I can though go to the wide setting and its still fine at that. I am usually in the middle for line spacing.

@Atunah: If you convert to mobi-both and use Send-to-Kindle, you will receive azw3 on your Voyage and Oasis. There are some quirks, but the line-spacing and other formatting are preserved.

I've never been able to right click any azw3 files with send to kindle, only the mobi version. I am not on the right computer now, but I have calibre set to where it says mobi ( convert to) in the top under the conversion setting thingy. I am a pretty primitive user of calibre as I can barely figure out that stuff. But I know I can only right click on the mobi files to pull up the send to kindle program.

I'll try looking at it tomorrow when I am on the right computer.

@Atunah: There's no separate azw3 file to send. You still send a mobi. But if it's a dual-mobi file, it will contain an azw3 version and a mobi version side the one file.

To make a dual-mobi, open the conversion window and select MOBI as the output format. Then go to the "MOBI Output" setting (second from the bottom on the left-hand side). Under "MOBI file type" you can select old, both or new. If you select "both," the resulting file will contain both mobi and azw3. If you want WhisperSync, make sure "Enable sharing" is unchecked.

Just be aware that there are quirks to mobi-both, the biggest disadvantage being no book covers. So there are trade-offs.

Thank you so much for those instructions. I had no idea. I'll try it out next time I send something from calibre over.
