Is there a drive image backup program for iPad or Android Tablet?
If you have an iPad or or an Android Tablet, can you create a complete drive image copy of the entire operating system, apps and data to an external hard drive? In the event you need to restore the system for whatever reason, you can reformat the drive of your tablet and restore the whole thing from the external drive to the internal drive of your tablet.
I have Acronis True Image that can do exactly like it but it only works with Windows machine. I can reboot from Acronis CD, do a complete back up from there and copy it to an external hard drive. In the event of software corruption or whatever, I can reformat the hard drive, reboot from Acronis CD and do a complete restore. Everything goes back exactly the way it used to be; bit by bit. It's a perfect restore program for a Windows machine. NOTA: I actually don't have a tablet yet but I want to know if it is possible to do this before making a purchase. |

You might have better luck asking in the Android or iPad forums.

All you need is a computer and a device running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or newer. We’ve also covered backing up and restoring your Android phone with Titanium Backup. Titanium Backup is a great app, but it requires rooting your Android. This feature isn’t exposed in Android’s user interface, so you should consider it experimental." |

The standard iPad Cloud backup works beautifully. When I buy a new iPhone or iPad I just restore the backup of the old device to it and I have everything there. Works very smoothly.

With rooted Android you can create and restore image of your system, both OS and data. Very handy for trying out different ROMs.

I've managed 10 different ipads just by backing them up to any computer using itunes. Never had a problem. That said the family share apps and calendar sharing on the ipad has been amazing!

You can for an android tablet that has a bootloader that can be unlocked, and has a version of TWRP available. The problem is that unlocking the bootloader will wipe your data. I always unlock the bootloader as soon as I buy a device.
TWRP can create a backup image of your device that includes both the system and data partitions. You can copy the backup to another device for safekeeping or make the backup to your sd card if the device has one. You can use Titanium Backup to backup your apps and app data if you are rooted. The best place to get this kind of info is on the XDA developers site. |
