Kindle Voyage vs Paperwhite 3
I have a Paperwhite 2 that I am passing along to a friend. I am contemplating the Voyage but the price is putting me off a bit because I don't know how to justify it and the Paperwhite is great but I really can't stand the recessed screen.

Is the contrast better on the Voyage than the Paperwhite 3 because that is really important to me as well as crispness of text? I am an avid ereader.

I am going to wait for a sale to buy the Viyage so I won't be paying full price.

I'm hesitant on getting the PW3 because yheres not much difference in the contrast compared to the Voyage

I live in the US and the price is $119. I'm hoping there's a Mother's Day sale on the kindles.

Have you compared the two in person? The difference in contrast is noticeable under normal lighting conditions. The store displays with that artificial overhead lighting can be deceiving.The Voyage has better contrast.

The Voyage was just on the first sale I've ever seen it on, and that was only to Prime members. For about a week, only; just before the Oasis was released. As a premium device, amazon has apparently never felt it had to reduce its price! A used or refurbished Voyage may be the best bet, if you don't want to pay the normal price, but really do want a Voyage.

Best Buy is having a Kindle sale so I was able to find a Kindle Voyage for $179 ! It'll be here on Monday even though I'm still waiting for my friend to scrounge up the money for my Paperwhite 2

Congrats. I did a side-by-side with the Voyage and PW3 at Best Buy and while really close, the Voyage was just a tad better in the text saturation and contrast. Now that I'm accustomed to the smaller size (I had a kindle keyboard before), I am also much less fumbly with it. Love the buttons, but surprisingly, I'm actually liking the touch screen as well. My Mom's paperwhite is overly touchy (too easy to access so you are constantly returning to where you were).

I was also happy to discover tonight that some of the features from Calibre now work on my Voyage such as listing series name and number. yay! It just took me a while to figure out how I was glitching it.

Can you please tell me how you were able to list series name and number in Calibre? I also use that program but I don't know how to do that.

I have a Voyage and a Paperwhite 3 and I like the Voyage a little better. Both have excellent screens but the Voyage screen is glass so I'm a little more comfortable using it without the case. The Voyage is a lot smaller and when it's in it's case it weighs less than half what the Paperwhite weighs in it's case.

That said, the differences in them are so small that I wouldn't say it justifies the price difference except that reading is important to me and I'm willing to pay the difference for small improvements.
