Convert into Calibre

The articals about .kfx file and the .sdr folder associated with the books make sense now.

I have just spent 3 hours trying to Convert that are in a new format (.kfx file and the .sdr folder)r 2 books Remove (DeDRM) I bought from Amazon for my Kindle using Calibre lastist Version & Apprentice Alf’s plugin using Windows 10 wsith no luck, is this of the new format

Anybody have a work around

This option does not appear to be working for me. I only get the error

and it won't let me download. Any suggestions?

Not all books are available for all Kindles(or K apps).
Not all books can be converted.
Ask for a refund if it has never been downloaded.

BTW You do have A Kindle APP installed on your PC? (I suspect Yes, it just is not compatible with that book)

I don't run windows on anything. I have a kindle app on my android tablet. The books reads OK on the tablet, but I don't like the kindle reader and typically convert to epub so I can read it on a good ereader app.

The book was delivered to my tablet, so I don't know why it won't let me download to transfer via USB. For a while, I was willing to buy from amazon, looks like I'm going to be re-thinking that decision.

What registered devices do you have, and does that book specify on the product page that it is compatible with the device you are trying to download for?

I have an android tablet, android kindle app on a nook and an android phone. I think one other android device. It says it is compatible with them all and lets me deliver to them (though I am not by the others to see if they showed up).

"Download & transfer via USB" is only available for Kindle devices and Fire tablets. It will not work with Android/iOS/PC/Mac apps.

I found an old Window XP VM I had laying around and installed kindle for the PC. Looks like kindle for the pc still gets the .azw file. I guess if they don't screw that up for a while, I might continue buying DRM free books, but I will have to give it some thought. I do not like to support hostile vendors.

Since when has the smartphone Kindle app been a convenient way to download your books and add to calibre?

The DeDRM tools need extra work to handle Kindle for Android books, and iOS is right out.

Kindle for PC/Mac has ALWAYS been the recommended way for people who don't own an actual Kindle.

Why do you need a Windows VM, Kindle for Mac works fine on Macbooks and Kindle for PC via winetricks works fine on Linux.

I never purchase anything with DRM, so I don't care about the deDRM tools. The reason the smartphone apps is the way for me to go is because that's the only thing I use that runs a kindle app. In the past, the file has been there in a a format that I can convert. That's no longer the case.

I run the VM on linux. I'm not using wine because it really causes me more problems than it gives me solutions. I use windows stuff so infrequently that I end up re-install/re-configuring/fixing wine every time I need to do something, so I just gave up.

Really -- I haven't had any problems, WINE runs pretty smoothly for me.

There isn't much configuring to do

although on Arch Linux it gets updated frequently so I might have to wait for "your wineprefix is being updated..."
