Kindle 3 Keyboard with LCD screen?
I broke my Kindle 3 Keyboard screen and I'm currently looking for a replacement.
I found lots of screens for my model on eBay, they cost around $20 and usually are called something like ED060SC7. Unfortunately they are confusingly labeled as "LCD E-ink" and I'm not sure whether those are LCD, or E-ink. I didn't know it was even possible to put LCD screens into Kindles. Asking several sellers didn't help much, since English is not their native language. I need E-ink screen, not LCD screen. Could anyone show me where can I buy one? |

You can get a used one here:
http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Amazon...y-p-20673.html I've purchased parts from them before, haven't had any problems. |

I forgot to mention that the item will be shipped to Poland, but from I see it's doable from that site and they even seem to sell those screens on eBay.
$30 is not cheap for a used screen, but it's not that expensive either. It's certainly better than LCD screen. If nothing else pops up, I'll probably buy it. Thank you very much! |

There's even one for 27$, which is kind of ridiculous, since that's more or less the price for a used screen. Unfortunately most of those can't be shipped to Poland.

Note that you can't just fit any screen to any K3. There are different screen models, and if the eink "waveform" of the screen doesn't match the device, you won't get any greyscales displayed.

Yep! I've received the wrong screen for my particular K3 in the past. But it you order from Powerbook Medic, you can submit your Kindle serial number, or, even better, the number on the screen cable (the number on the top left of the cable). Powerbook Medic is great.

If you watch Craigslist you can probably find an entire Kindle 3 Keyboard for $20. I got two for that price. I've seen half a dozen others over time as well but didn't need more than two/have more money than for two so it's not an uncommon price. They don't last super long at that price so you have to be a little on top of it.
Got my 1st gen Nooks for $15 each too. Of course this is the USA - no clue on other countries. Everyone wants color more than battery life though which drove down value. |

On more question, since terminology like "e-Ink LCD Display" is very confusing to me and I've just found it's used on powerbookmedic site many of you recommended. What does it mean that the screen is e-ink LCD? I always thought that screen can be either e-ink or LCD and can't be both.

There's no such thing. It's either E-ink or LCD.

There an advantage to buy a used unit in working order, even if you just need one part. You then have all the other parts, in case you later need one of them. While screen cracking is the most common problem, I once had a a motherboard die.
Also, maybe the used unit you purchase will have a battery that keeps a charge longer than yours, probably because it is newer. However, to answer the OP question, I just searched a bit on Ebay. In my opinion, the Ebay screens you may be looking at (are they shipped from Hong Kong?) are mislabeled and really eInk. Also, can't you send the eBay seller a question? |

I asked sellers on eBay, but since English is not their native language I get replies like "Yes, dear. this is lcd eink screen, you can see the pictures". It's kind of hard to get trustworthy answer.

Here you go.
http://www.howtogeek.com/181577/e-in...t-for-reading/ There is no such thing as an LCD/e-ink screen. You pretty much need to make sure you get a k3 screen. Now if it is super duper cheap, buy the screen just to see what it is. |

I looked at the first ebay posting. That is the K3 screen. My concern is that it is showing a home screen while not connected to anything. Unless that is normal for a disconnected screen.
It is mislabeled so I think I would pass on it. No telling what they might send you. |
