Kybook and Calibre Content Server
I'm hoping someone might be able to help me.
I have just started using the Kybook app on my iPad. I would like to transfer books from my Calibre library, so thought I'd try the Calibre Content Server. I can access my Calibre library through Safari and Chrome, but not through Kybook's inbuilt web browser. If that worked I should be able to put my books automatically into Kybook, but using the "normal" web browser means I have to select the app I want to open the book with, and then it opens the app each time, which I don't want to do. Would anyone be able to suggest why I can access the library through Chrome and Safari, but not through the inbuilt web browser? Last edited by Bermudagirl; 06-08-2016 at 04:58 AM. |

Sometimes you have to specify ,that you want to see an opds library. So 192.168.1.12:8080/opds. I do not use kyreader but maybe this could help. The ipaddress is just an example, but you probably knew that

Kybook is able to autodetect a Calibre Server. You need to make sure the IP address of the server is updated (if you've rebooted etc it may have changed, especially if you have multiple devices on the network and have not set static internal IPs for them). Then go into the Kybook Menu, and choose the edit icon. Then "Add OPDS Catalog" and in the window that opens, look for Local net catalogs, search... It should find yours from there. As for the web interface, no idea, I prefer to continue to use the built in capacity to read OPDS catalogs

I have found it much easier to copy from Calibre to Dropbox then upload with Kybook. This way I don't have to keep my notebook running!

Well, as far as that goes, I keep my Calibre library in my Dropbox folder, so if/when I add more books, the update is automatic. But yeah, I still try to d/l locally rather than from the net. Not unlimited data here.

I hope you mean that you keep a copy of your Calibre library in your Dropbox folder, rather than your actual library? Keeping the main Calibre library there is a disaster waiting to happen.

I agree with HarryT! I had a scary experience keeping my libraries on the Copy cloud. It took me several weeks to rebuild them. Don't want to go through that again...

[edit] Days later... I've realised that my weekly clone of my main drive is actually enough to ensure I have a good library copy. SuperDuper! FTW Last edited by kyteflyer; 06-24-2016 at 02:46 PM. |

I also use Kybook on both my IPad and IPhone. If I use Calibre, I edit and save my books to my hard drive then transfer to Dropbox on my computer. From there transfer books into Kybook. Easy peesy!
