Hello!

I received a Kindle Paperwhite as a gift a while ago, but I never bothered using it because I prefer paper books and my local library isn't compatible with Kindles.

However, I've recently learned that a Kindle becomes carbon neutral at somewhere around 18 - 22.5 books. As an environmentally conscientious individual, I now feel that ebooks are the only acceptable choice for somebody who consumes books at the pace that I do.

My favourite genres are science fiction and fantasy -- space operas and grimdark, in particular.

Welcome to Mobileread. I don't suppose you have access to the receipt? Otherwise you could always sell it on Gumtree/ebay/whatever, and buy a Kobo or other epub device so that you can borrow library ebooks. No library in Australia does Kindle borrowing (or anywhere outside the US, as far as I know).

As it was a gift, I do not have the receipt. However, I didn't join this forum to complain. I joined this forum as I plan on using it, and have already purchased several ebooks.

I didn't interpret your post as complaining - was just offering a solution which could have you ending up with a device usable for both bought and borrowed ebooks. Some of the State library ebook collections are quite good, and worth accessing.

(Your Kindle books can be liberated and converted; library books can't/shouldn't be.)
