Kobo aura froze

My wife's Kobo Aura suddenly froze while she was reading. It wouldn't respond to anything.

When I put a pin in the hole on the bottom and removed it, the screen cleared and the light near the on switch stayed on, but the screen did come on.

When I held the power button for 20 seconds or so the power light went off. Turning the power switch back on still did not restore the screen.

When I held the power button to turn it on an stuck a pin in the pin hole a blank unlit screen flashed on and off.

When connected to the reader to my PC via a USB cable, the power switch light came on, the unlit screen flashed once or twice, but my PC did not see the unit nor did any message come up on the e-reader saying it was connected to the PC.

Any suggestions?

I'm actually having the same issue right now, but with my Glo HD. Completely froze when I unplugged it after charging (I was doing all the troubleshooting tips as per Kobo for frozen screens and I was following the charge for 4 hours powered off step then). I connected it to my computer, left it alone for around 15 minutes or so while I spoke with a representative, tried turning it on, and it responded. Maybe that could help you.

I asked the rep if I should do a factory reset and he suggested doing so. I'm doing it now and if I still encounter the problem, he said to let them know and they will see if a replacement is possible.

I left it on and went to bed. This morning the e-reader is responding.

My thoughts are that with my wife pressing buttons and then handing it to me without knowing what she did; and then me pressing buttons, the e-reader may have had to take time to go through all the instructions that were fed into it.

Does that make sense?

Maybe, but odd if the only thing she pushed was the power button.

Glad it is working again.

I think she pushed quite a few things before she called me to look at it.
