Back to stock
I would like to revert to stock Amazon firmware my Kindle Touch (I want to sell it in a clean state) but this is a general question,
I currently I'm on 5.3.1 with jbpatch installed and the tricks to avoid Amazon automatic updates when connected to wifi. Do I just need to flash 5.3.7 version or there is something else to do? I tried to search the forum but I found nothing, maybe I used wrong keyword or this is just an uncommon question Thank you. |

Upgrading the firmware will have no effect on a jailbreak. If you've previously installed the JB, you need to remove it again yourself.

Thank you for your fast reply Harry.
If I install the 5.3.7 will it work on top of JB? This way I can propose the buyer to give him the latest Amazon fw and also leave JB installed, to provide an easier path the day he would like to experiment. How does it sound? |

Well, you choose -
1) Leave it jailbroken 1a) Ensure you have the most recent jb for your device installed 1b) Un-install anything that has an un-installer 1c) Use the Amazon update on it - the (current) jb will re-install itself. 1d) Use a secure erase program on the visible FAT-32 user storage, otherwise everything you had on user storage can be recovered by the next owner. (See: dcdd I posted somewhere around here) 2) Leave it factory stock 2a) Un-install anything that has an un-installer 2b) Home -> Menu -> Settings -> Menu -> (factory) Reset 2c) Use the Amazon update on it - the factory reset has wiped out the jb 'survival kit' (Also known as: Kiss of death) 2d) Use a secure erase program on the visible FAT-32 user storage, otherwise everything you had on user storage can be recovered by the next owner. (See: dcdd I posted somewhere around here) Last edited by knc1; 03-19-2016 at 08:07 AM. |
