Unhappy Sending Books to iPad?

I just tried to send a books to my ipad from Calibre I used the Connect to iTunes method to add it but now I can't find the books on the device.

How do I get Calibre to send the books to the app I use to read books?

It can be done in various ways. What I do personally is to do a "Save to disk" from Calibre, and then drag and drop the books from the folder I've saved them to onto the reading app in iTunes.

Yeah that's the same thing I do as well. I was just hoping to use the Calibre interface so I could see what's on the device already and what needs to be added.

Unfortunately I don't think that method works with current versions of iOS.

Yeah, this is my problem too. I was thinking of upgrading to a new ipad until I heard that iOS 8.3 bricked the ability of calibre to communicate with Marvin (my reading app). So I'm looking for a new device.

I have an iPad Air 2 running the latest iOS 9.2 (?) and I really don't find it a problem, personally. I really don't need Calibre to tell me what books are on the device - I can just look on the device and see.

With iOS, you can still connect the ipad to Calibre using the content server. I'm just due for a device upgrade and I'm thinking of getting a traditional e-reader. Are there any that will communicate with Calibre in order to transfer large number of ebooks organized into collections without going through the painstakingly slow task of adding books one-by-one to a collection on the e-reader?

Not that I know of your best bet might be a windows tablet that can run Calibre itself.

How you send eBook to your iPad depends on the app. What app are you using?

Yes, Kobo. There's a sticky in the Kobo forum on how to set up collections (shelves) management in Calibre.

I'm using the app called Gerty the same people that make Marvin make Gerty. Right now I add books manually by going through iTunes.
