CC not displaying any custom information when connected to cloud library

Hello.

First of all, thank you for this great app. I've been using a free (demo) version on my android phone to connect to my OneDrive library, and it worked flawlessly until the last update. Now, when I connect to cloud, select a book and go into the book details, CC does not display any information stored in custom columns, nor any descriptions/comments either. It displayed both before the update.

I tried several times, reset the cloud connection, ensured that my cloud database was fully updated etc. Still nothing. The only book details displayed are title, author, series, publication date and id. No custom information and no description.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I buy the full version? I'll do it gladly, if it solves the problem. I've just never needed the full version before.

My phone has Android 4.1.2, by the way.

Unfortunately I can't make this happen for me. I connect to my library in OneDrive and see all the info.

Some questions:
  • What version of CC are you running (CC's Settings / About will tell you)? Where did you get it, Google Play or Amazon?
  • Do you see the custom columns in the top-level cloud display?
  • If you see the custom columns, tap on one, tap on a value, then tap on a book. Do you see that value in the book?
  • What do you see in cloud book details if you tap on Settings / Choose items to display? You should see the standard and custom column names with a check mark next to them. Are they there? If so, are they checked?
If could help if you send me a CC debug log. See How do I get help? in our FAQ for instructions. Please erase the multipie address so that the debug log goes only to me.

Another thought: it could be that the upgrade went wonky. Try the steps in our FAQ answer How do I reinstall CC without losing all my book information?

Although I thank you for the offer, buying the full version shouldn't change anything unless the upgrade didn't work, in which case a reinstall should fix it.

Thank you for the answer.

First, I uninstalled and reinstalled CC demo version, didn't help. The same results as before. The version is 4.3.5.1 and I downloaded it from Google Play.

As for the rest:

Yes, I can see the custom columns in the top-level display. But if I tap on one, then on a value and then on a book, I do not see that information in the book details. Except for tags. After reinstalling I can see my custom tags in the book details (besides title, author, series and pubdate), but no other custom information, not even comments.

If I tap on Choose items to display, I see all the custom columns. And yes, I checked them. Still nothing, they're not displayed in the book details.

Another thing, when I download a book from the cloud, I can see all the information. But not when the book is still in the cloud.

I will now send a debug log.

Thanks, the debug log shows where the problem is. I don't know why you are the only one seeing it. Perhaps others are as well but are not reporting it. I know that I don't see it in Android 4.3, so perhaps Google changed something to fix the underlying problem.

I can send you a corrected APK to see if I am right and have fixed the problem. The APK will update the existing install. You won't need to uninstall first. However, you must change your security/permissions to allow "installing applications from unknown sources." See here for some instructions. If you are willing to do this, "Private Message" me an email address, or post here telling me I can use the email address you used for the debug log.

APK sent.

I was able to reproduce the failure using an Android 4.2.1 "virtual device" running on my development computer. The fix in the APK worked there, so I expect it will work for you.
