connection to a new PC
I just bought Microsoft's Surface Book (available from today in Europe), and it recognizes neither the H2o nor the Glo HD. I had no problem with my old ASUS, even after implementing Windows 10, but even after turning on/off both the PC and the devices, it doesn't work.
I've looked through the last few pages of this forum, but the connectivity problems seemed different. I would be thankful for any suggestion. Last edited by anacreon; 02-24-2016 at 01:31 PM. |

I've been exchanging with Kobo since the 18th with no success: they do answer, but not to the question. I realize the Surface book is very new in Europe, but it came out in October in the States and they knew it would come. I don't know how to get them to develop the appropriate soft.
Keeping to the 3.15 FW to be able to access French dictionaries is no hardship, but keeping an old computer just to communicate with my Kobos would be. |

sort of solved
I received the dock for my Surface Book, and surprise, when I connect either Kobo (H2O and Glo HD) through the dock, the PC recognizes them, which it doesn't when I connect them directly to the PC.
I informed Kobo, and will try to inform Microsoft. I'm very much relieved to be able to put by my old Asus (no sound anymore) and work on one PC in one room. |

explained
I contacted the Microsoft help desk and I have the explanation: the Surface Book has only 36W while the Surface dock has 65W.
A friend told me I could use a charger plus an old WD twin cable connector since I don't want to lug the dock on the go, but I haven't tried yet. |

anacreon--
Thanks for reporting back! Interesting and good to know that the ports on the Surface book provide less power. |
