Calibre Portable
If I "export" my library onto a flash drive, will it be removed it from my hard drive? Or is the export feature just a copy of the files and structures?

Export is a copy of All Libraries and you User Settings.
The original is still there.

Yay! I wasn't looking forward to attempting to had create a library filled with tweaks, custom columns and icon behaviors that doesn't seem to translate when I copy the metadata and JSON files.

One last thing....will it run independently to the one on my hard drive? I can't seem to get the flash file to run independently and not hijack the one on my hard drive.

Goal: 2 platforms running simultaneously one a working library, the other hosts the overflow books. I am tired of creating new libraries on my hard drive just to see what is on them.

You can View any library on any device using portable.
You just cant make it REMEMBER where the are/were
(which can hinder moving books with Copy to Library)

You can't have two instances of calibre running at the same time; there is a semaphore used to prevent that possibility.
