Thumbs up Free (Kindle) The Dreadful Debutante by M. C. Beaton [Regency Historical Romance]

The Dreadful Debutante by popular mystery novelist M. C. Beaton (SYKM, Wikipedia), which it turns out is a pseudonym, is the 1st in her Royal Ambition series of light-hearted f/m Regency historical romances, this installment involving a Marquess reforming a hoyden into respectability for the marriage mart and living to regret it, free courtesy of publisher RosettaBooks, who are e-printing it from its 1994 Ivy Books paperback originally out under her other pseudonym of "Marion Chesney".

This is RosettaBooks's 3rd selection thus far for their daily freebie giveaway countdown to Valentine's Day, which I'm pleased to see them resuming this year.

Currently free, just for today @ Amazon (available to Canadians). This is one of the titles that RB have exclusive with Amazon, so it won't be showing up elsewhere.

And this has been the selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

Because while I've never actually tried them, I've heard good things about Beaton's mystery series, so it's really nice to get one of her other books as a freebie to try out her general writing style.

And it's a fun-looking one, too, which seems to invert the usual "reform a rake" sort of Regency cliché.

Enjoy!

Description
Arranging a season for an unruly young lady whose habit was to enter drawing rooms by sliding down banisters presented a challenge at best - especially since the hoydenish Mira had a sister of incomparable grace and beauty.

Mira wasn't daunted at all by the local society and its ridiculous marriage mart. Her heart belonged to Lord Charles, who had been the object of her dreams ever since she was a child. Alas, Charles had eyes only for her ever-perfect sister, Drusilla.

Along the sidelines, the Marquess of Grantley was enjoying Mira's jealous antics - although pushing her sister into the fountains had practically ruined her social cachet. It was up to him to restore her to respectability and make her an eligible bride once again. Yet when he succeeded, the lovelorn Marquess began to wish he had left well enough alone.
