Can't read my books
I have only a few books purchased through Ibooks because by then, I had heard about the DRM thing. Now I can't read them.
It says that I have to have OS 10.9. I have v 9.2 because that is the latest and greatest for my one version older Itouch (5th gen). Am I missing some step? Makes no sense since I bought these books long before 10.9 came out! Alternatively, is there any way to remove the DRM so I can read on some other device? ![]() edited: I am aware that you can access books out of the Itunes book's files, but only the DRM-free books can be taken out. If you're trying to read them on an iPod Touch (or iPhone or iPad) then there is no such thing as OS 10.9 as 9.2.1 is the latest version of iOS (even for the most current devices) not sure why iBooks in iOS would give you a message like that. OS 10.xx would refer to the Mac OS X for a computer (current version is 10.11.x "El Capitan"). OS X 10.9 "Mavericks" was the first desktop Mac OS to have iBooks IIRC.

Are you using the same Apple account that you used to purchase the books? That is the only thing that should matter, not the OS version. If you are using a different account than before, you should be able to link the two accounts as a 'family' and then you could access them as before.
As for the version, a 5th gen iPod Touch runs the latest version of iOS. There is nothing newer. What is telling you otherwise? |

Today, it says that it is running version 9.2.1 and Ibooks looks COMPLETELY different. Stuff is now redownloading and opening. I guess it was a temporary glitch because I KNOW it said 10.9 when I posted since I typed it right from the itouch. Anyway, fixed. Just wish I could eliminate the DRM since I can't use the text-to-speech on those.
Thanks for your attempts at helping!! I appreciate it! |
