Audio?
This is very weird! Calibre (v2.50, 64-bit) starts and begins some downloads. Then audio of someone doing a new story starts and runs. I've shut down all other apps to be sure it is Calibre... and the audio continues until I close Calibre... I restart it and the audio starts again! If I let it go, it goes for maybe 2 or 3 minutes and then stops... not at the end of the article. (I can't tell which recipe is doing this, but I suspect it's a monthly recipe as it started just today, and some magazines are set to download on the 29th of the month!)
Anyone know what's going on? |

I'm set up so news sources download one at a time separated by a few minutes. Tomorrow I will delete all today's downloads and watch as the new ones start to see if I can find it that way. |

Its not particularly weird -- some poorly designed sites need javascript enabled to scrape their content. To do that, calibre has to open them using a browser -- there is no way to prevent autoplaying audio/video on such sites (well technically one could try to detect and remove those elements before they have a change to start playing, but that is somewhat error prone).

Hmmm.... first time I've experienced it in several years of Calibre usage. I've been trying to identify the source recipe but haven't been able to yet. I think it was happening while they were downloading to Calibre, but I can't prove that- other than to say I haven't deleted anything from yesterday and it hasn't reoccurred when I opened Calibre today. But from your description it sounds like I am correct in that assumption.

It could have been an advertisement that had embedded audio.

I can tell you, ads (A/V) are now placed in between paragraphs at major News sites here on the west coast.
![]() ![]() You open a page and get a momentary burst of sound (before the code can mute) OR you are scrolling along - reading and the content suddenly split between paragraphs and a video window opens and starts playing. once played, the content closes back up with not a clue anything is there ![]() |

So, far it was that one day only and hasn't repeated. That suggests to me it was one of my monthly (magazine) downloads, as several of them are set to auto download on the 29th day of the month. That narrows it down, however I haven't found which one yet (by searching the articles.) Will publicize it here, when I do.
